A Little More About Wendy

Having spent over two decades running my own business and raising my children, I am no stranger to the fast-paced nature of balancing (or juggling) a work world of long hours, mounting demands and deadlines, with parental concerns, challenged sleep patterns, poor eating habits, stress-related dis-ease (headaches, digestive issues, joint and muscle pain), and no time at all for self – You name it, I’ve probably been there. And oddly, despite all my years of work immersed in the yoga and meditation world, the way I was living my life was taking a toll on my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

It wasn’t until I made the commitment to myself to take all the practices that I learned on my yoga mat and meditation cushion out into my day-to-day activities that I fully embodied the teachings of conscious awareness. And what a difference it made to my body, mind, and spirit!! It is so freeing (albeit, often challenging) to live consciously from the heart in our busy, stress-filled, and wired world. It changes how we show up, how we think, how we deal with emotions, and it gives us the tools we need to live in a way that is compassionate, inspired, and healing. I was finally feeling Alive With Energy, Enthusiasm, and Excitement – It was, and IS, AWEsome!

Fun Facts About Wendy

I grew up on an island, west of the West Island, outside Montreal, Quebec. Unfortunately, I am not fluent in French, mais je parle un peu!

I decided to go to University in 2013, because “I had always wanted to” but life got in the way. I graduated in 2018 with an honour’s degree of Bachelor, Social Sciences, majoring in Religion & Culture and minoring in Women’s Studies … Summa cum laude, which shocked the heck out of me! Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks??

In 2014 I joined a choir/chorus, not because I could read music or actually knew how to sing, but simply because I wanted to sing! I have performed in many concerts in the past ten years, including being on stage at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre and First Ontario Place in Hamilton! Singing is soooo much fun – I continue to learn and grow as I figure out how to read music, and I have confidence that I am singing well. Second soprano, me!

I love to ride my bicycle that my sweetie built for me – It’s a road bike with skinny tires and shoes that clip to the pedals. I have fallen off twice as my foot stuck in the pedal, but luckily only hurt my pride. My long-term plan is to ride “a century” (aka 100km) in one trip … For now, I am slowly building my distance up to 50km so that I can ride from Hamilton to Burlington, along the beach strip, back through the industrial areas to home without having to call an Uber – Fingers crossed it happens this Fall!

If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy,
If a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you,
If the simple things of nature have a message that you understand,
Rejoice, for your soul is alive.
